All attempts to get more acceleration out of an engine with little power, for example with another clutch or variomatic, are usually not very successful because they only try to bring the available power perfectly on the road. If there is little power available, even the best sport variator can only improve acceleration a little.
That's why our basic kits start right where the power is generated, in the heart of the engine. Not only is the torque greatly improved here with the help of a larger displacement, but the inner cylinder design of the scavenging channels and their larger dimensions considerably improve the performance over the entire speed range.
The cylinder we have chosen, the DR 70, which has proven itself over decades, is the proverbial egg-laying wool-milk sow. The DR combines a very good starting torque with a wide turning out under load. This allows it to master the normally difficult balancing act of good acceleration and high top speed, and it also responds very well to more extensive tuning measures such as a sports exhaust.
The kit contains the basic parts to allow the engine to develop its full power potential.
The intake manifold is enabled to breathe freely by means of an open intake and larger carburettors, and the cylinder thanks this with a greatly improved performance and better durability thanks to increased internal cooling.
The sets can be combined with the standard exhaust without any problems, then they are absolutely inconspicuous and already much stronger than with standard cylinders.
An inconspicuous sport exhaust in standard design, as offered by e.g. Tecnigas or LeoVince, rounds off the complete package perfectly. An even better performance in combination with a quiet exhaust with approval makes a 50cc scooter already a very fast vehicle that does not attract attention in everyday life by noise and rpm.
To be able to adapt the carburetor individually to the different existing conditions, such as a sports exhaust, a nozzle set for the respective carburetor is included in each kit.
If a too small main nozzle is used, the engine can lose weight and destroy the cylinder within a very short time. The basic rule for a durable and well tuned engine is very easy to realize. It always starts with the choice of a main nozzle that is so large that it makes the engine stutter under load. Starting from this you work your way down slowly, i.e. for example starting from a nozzle size 88 you choose (in the respective nozzle gradation) a smaller and smaller nozzle size (86, 84, 82 etc.) until the scooter does not stutter under full load any more. This is a very good starting point for further fine tuning of the carburetor needle, side jet etc.
A DR 70 with 17,5mm carburetor and a corresponding exhaust already mobilizes to the 9hp at the rear wheel whereby it could also easily pull a longer gearbox if a further increase of the final speed is desired.
All in all the foundation stone for a solid engine tuning that despite the increased power remains suitable for everyday use and low consumption.
