Description


Constantly worn out clutch cages or linings can be caused by broken springs of the primary reduction. Hidden under two riveted sheet metal covers, the large primary gear and the intermediate gear are mounted on the intermediate gear ("fir tree") so that they can move relative to each other. Both components are preloaded by springs. These springs absorb the entire torque when starting or shifting down (engine brake) and thus prevent strong impulses such as shifting impacts or backfires from causing a defective transmission.


If these springs break, the effect of the defective clutch components described above often occurs and often also an unpleasant starting noise.
This is often confused with a plucking clutch.


Broken primary springs should be changed as soon as possible, otherwise there is a danger that they can work their way through the wall of the cover plates and get into the gearbox.

b> TIP: All motors that only have outer springs can easily be fitted with additional inner springs. Especially recommended when using cylinders with large displacement.
