ADVANTAGE BGM PRO PRIMARY
Thus, with the installation of a BGM PRO primary sprocket, a wide range of reduction ratios can be realized. Only the small primary pinion has to be changed, which can be done without disassembling the engine (rear wheel and clutch cover have to be removed).
64 TEETH
The version with 64 teeth is aimed at the small smallframe with 75-112cc or racing engines of 125-150cc which are moved on small courses with high speed.
The BGM primary fills here exactly the gap of the conventional primary drives between 3.00 and 3.72.
Cylinders with 85-105cc are driven gladly with a reduction in the range 3.20-3.05. More powerful engines 102-115cc) can also use the 2.91 without problems.
65 TEETH
The 65 tooth version is for the displacement and high torque engines 130cc and up. The long primary reduction of 2.50 is ideal to combine it with a secondary shaft with shortened 3 and/or 4 gears. Thus, the first two gears are longer and thus properly usable, but the gears three and four still connect perfectly due to the shortening on the secondary gear side. Furthermore, the straight gearing provides a high degree of stability, but the gears still run very quietly due to the precise manufacturing. The typical 'whistling' of a straight-toothed drive is eliminated.
PROBLEM PRIMARY DRIVE
As standard, the Smallframe engines use a steel clutch basket and thin cover plates for the shock absorber springs. The relatively soft original Piaggio basket is deep drawn and therefore not very precise in runout and balancing. The thin cover plates are also often rubbed through by the springs at high mileage. If a spring, or a piece of it, then lands in the transmission, this means a lot of damage.
SOLUTION
The BGM PRO primary set offers the great advantage that a clutch basket of any manufacturer can be used. Many small tuning shops (e.g. Fabbri or Benelli) offer perfectly fitting parts with reinforced CNC machined basket, reinforced springs and thick cover plates.

Clutch basket (e.g. Fabbri Racing, Egig)
Primary repair kit (if not included in the clutch basket)
