Lambretta B 125
After the success of the model A, Innocenti quickly decided to develop an improved version. This is very much a natural progression of the model A, although the improvements are far from being only superficial. The model B boasts a number of significant technical improvements. The most important is the rear suspension, which gives a much more pleasant ride, especially in conjunction with the larger 8 inch wheels. The scooter is much more stable and also more comfortable due to a revised seating position.
The gearchange was moved from the floorboard to the handlebars and was now controlled by the patented Teleflex cable. The solution with a hand-operated twistgrip- gearchange was continued throughout the production of all subsequent Lambrettas. The other cables are now routed alongside the frame, which greatly enhances servicing. The capacity of the petrol tank was enlarged, too. As with the model A, there are a number of changes during the production run of the model B. For instance, the brakes were improved with the final models, as the pads are no longer liners inside the drum, but mounted to the shoes. Change of brake shoes becomes much easier this way. After
35.014 scooters made, production of the model B ceased in January 1950. All B models were painted in metallic colours.
