Headlight SIEM (NOS) trapezoid shape - Vespa Sprint 150, GT125, GL150, SS180
We have received from a stock liquidation still a few, in the 1960/70's produced, original SIEM headlights from Italy. Here in the distinctive trapezoid shape originally made for the Vespa tricycles APE AD1, AE and AP they are also suitable for the above mentioned Vespa 125-180cc large frame models. The glass diffuser with the classic SIEM logo clearly show the difference in quality compared to cheap replicas. A must for any serious restoration. Another feature are the sturdy spring clips that fix the headlight plug. These are still very high quality in the old headlights and not as flexible as in the newly available copies.
This headlight has as illuminant a Bilux two-filament bulb (BA25S with 25/25Watt).
Since the headlight was originally produced for the APE it needs a different headlight plug than the Sprint/GT/SS models.
It can be used the headlight plug of the models with round headlight (eg Sprint 150 Veloce). At this only the socket for the city driving light should be removed.
To do this, simply cut the small retaining plate at the thinnest point (bend).
The reflector can be dusty, this simply with gentle cleaning agent (clear water + detergent) swing out. Do not clean the reflector under any circumstances. The reflective layer is vapor-deposited and is destroyed by mechanical treatment (as with any classic headlamp).
Scope of delivery and mounting
The headlight is ready for installation, except for the bulb. It consists of reflector, glass and the two parts connecting galvanized frame. A suitable bulb can be found under accessories. This type of headlight is fixed in the headlight trim ring with a small wire clip that is attached to the reflector. The trim ring itself is attached to the steering head from below with two small countersunk screws, each with a steel rosette as a base. You can also find these under accessories.
This product is marked by us as so-called NOS (New old stock = new goods with long storage). As long as stock lasts.
SUMMARY: Great opportunity to get hold of an original SIEM headlight from old production.
