The exhaust body itself is made of stainless steel and is now completely surrounded by a heat protection cover. This is, like the deep-drawn end piece, made of black-coated stainless steel and is screwed to the exhaust body and can therefore be dismantled. The more massive design of the GranTurismo results in only 400gr. more weight compared to the 4Road.
The manifold is fixed to the exhaust by a noble clamp. The graphite penetrated gasket additionally provides a flexible connection between muffler and manifold. The silencer itself is fixed to a mounting plate (also made of stainless steel) by means of three elastic suspension points. Thus the system always has sufficient clearance to compensate for any possible tensions (heat, bumps).
Optically the system is much more modern than its predecessor. The beautiful oval design ends in a strictly geometrical end piece which leaves a very harmonious and sporty impression due to the soft radii.
NOTE for vehicles from 125ccm with homologation date after 01.01.2006:
These may only be operated with a regulated catalytic converter.
If this is removed, the type approval expires.
Vehicles with Euro3 standard can be recognized by the embossed test marks on the original exhaust system:
The last two circled numbers are decisive here.
The 5 confirms the homologation for a Euro3 tested vehicle.
The 9 confirms compliance with the noise limits.
Many manufacturers of aftermarket and sports exhaust systems limit themselves only to the approval of the rear silencer with regard to the noise values (9).
These are only legally usable in road traffic in connection with an optional catalytic converter. The insertable catalytic converter then has the marking (5)
How do I recognize which exhaust emission standard my scooter has?
Euro3 vehicles can be recognized by the fact that they:
- necessarily an injection (i.E.)
- use a regulated catalytic converter with lambda sensor
.
The key numbers in the vehicle registration document provide the most reliable information:
Euro1 and Euro2
Old vehicle registration document: number 1,2 Key: 00, 09, 10
New vehicle registration document: number 14.1 key 020, 029 or 0210
Euro3
New registration document: number 14.1 key 0212
Note: The original chassis of the Vespa GT/GTS models is very softly tuned. A sports exhaust can therefore graze the fairing when the suspension is strongly compressed. This can be remedied by a conversion to better tuned sport dampers, e.g. from BGM (see accessories).
