The Superbanana from EGIG PERFORMACE is a resonance exhaust, based on the look of a conventional banana exhaust, as already used by Piaggio from the factory on the popular SS50/90 and ET3 models. The Superbanana is designed to provide powerful engines from 125cc upwards with an exhaust that is visually and acoustically unobtrusive, but performs at the level of a classic resonance exhaust.
NOISEREDUCTION
Inside there is a silencer that reduces the noise level to the lowest possible level without causing any loss of power or heat build-up. The difference in noise compared to an original or other classic 'banana' is only a few DB more, with +50% or more power increase, depending on the engine type.
FEATURES SUPER BANANA TOURING
One piece exhaust
Overcurrent angle: 120°-125
Exhaust angle: 170°-180°
Advance exhaust angle: 27-29°
Manifold Ø32mm
Luggage compartment compatible
Tires up to 3.50 width
Stud spacing 54-62mm*
not suitable for Vespa PK (with cutting out the side plate mounting also possible on PK models)
If the Superbanana is installed on 54mm, the M8 flanged nut with 10mm wrench width on the inside of the manifold must be used.
The Superbanana exhausts are designed as a final upgrade for fast street engines. They therefore need the right environment to deliver the appropriate performance. If the engine is still stock (or despite 133cc cylinders rather conservatively built) the exhaust can only support limited. Here we would rather advise a BGM Touring or BGM Sport Banana, as these can support the engine much better in such an environment.
However, if the conditions are right (cylinder, intake revision, carb size etc.) the Superbanana currently offers the highest performance increase that can be achieved with an inconspicuous exhaust system.
To meet different requirements, there are two different types, the Sport and Touring versions.
TOURING
The Touring version is a 'real banana' and scores with good driveability due to the relatively early high torque. In the upper speed range it still has a lot of reserves to complete fast stages on the motorway.
The power peak is, depending on cylinder and exhaust angle, between 7000-8000 rpm and thus about 1500 rpm later than a conventional sport banana. It therefore feels comfortable on engines with not too high timing angles (overflow max. 125°, exhaust ~170-180° advance angle between 27-29°) and is perfect for touring engines based on a Polini 133 or e.g. also a M1B 60. The Touring is comparable e.g. with Egig Python or PM40.
SPORT
The Superbanana Sport has a larger diffuser and was developed for powerful engine concepts. Therefore, for best results, it is used with higher control angles than the Touring. The overflow angle should be around 126-128°, the advance angle between 29-32° resulting in a window for the exhaust angle of about 184-192°. With this the Sport then burns off a real firework and peaks, depending on the setup, between 8000-9000rpm with a good usable overrev of mostly over 2000rpm.
So don't get too confused by the build, the Superbanana Sport is a 'whole dude' and plays in the same league as Egig Mamba or Viper resonance exhaust.
The manifolds of the Superbanana Sport and Touring are identical, so this can be converted in a few minutes if necessary.
The exhaust should be oiled regularly to protect it from rust.
Alternatively, it can be painted with heat resistant paint or electroplated.
NOTE: The exhaust manifold may contact the shock spring. To ensure adequate clearance, we recommend using CMD's 'Joe Possum' shock absorber adapter (see accessories).
CONCLUSION
The EGIG PERFORMANCE SUPERBANANA exhausts are perfect for inconspicuous but powerful smallframe engines. They score with high performance, good drivability and a wide rev band.
