Tool BGM PRO for dismantling the front wheel axle on Vespa Wideframe/Largeframe (up to approx. Bj. 1979).

The tool is suitable for all models with their swingarm the shock absorber and the spring are still arranged separately. Here the wheel axle sits firmly in two ball bearings. The BGM PRO tool is perfect for gentle disassembly of the wheel axle, swing arm and bearing.

Here as a supplement to our multitool BGM8819N (without Mutlitool, forcing screw BGM8819NS is required). Alternatively available as a set: BGM7660KTL

It is screwed into the thread of the cover cap. Depending on the year of manufacture, this is a fine thread (models up to 1964, M30x1.0mm) or from 1964 the more stable M30x1.5mm. Then the central mandrel is used to push the wheel axle out of the bearing. The mandrel has a pressed-in ball at the end to protect the threaded end of the wheel axle.

TIPS:
Encapsulated bearing
If you want to improve the front bearing of the wheel axle, use an encapsulated front wheel bearing with increased bearing clearance (6203 C3 2RS). The encapsulated bearing (with lifetime grease filling) makes it possible to dispense with the felt ring or oil seal, thus reducing unnecessary friction. Likewise, the encapsulation prevents dirt from entering the bearing.

Increased bearing clearance
The increased bearing clearance of the C3 bearing compensates for the often strained wheel axle. Due to component tolerances, the ideal dimension between the two wheel axle bearings can never be 100% achieved. With standard bearings, the axle is often strained and turns with difficulty. With the C3 bearing, the wheel axle runs wonderfully smoothly and without noticeable resistance. The bearings also last much longer.

Speedometer drive washer
When mounting the wheel axle, always make sure that the small washer is present on the worm thread for the speedometer drive. Otherwise the bearings will be extremely strained and the wheel axle can no longer be turned.
