Description


The Malossi 210 Sport is an ideal base for a powerful, high-torque engine with a wide rev band. It can be run with stock components without any problems.
The new MK2 Sport 2021 version has a bolted steel exhaust flange compared to the old Sport cylinder. This is a two-piece design and allows a much easier machining of the exhaust port and simple replacement of the flange. The piston, manufactured by Vertex (previously ASSO), has a molybdenum sulphide anti-friction coating on the piston skirt. The new piston is shorter, so it can be used with 60mm long stroke shafts without any modification to the piston. Furthermore, the windows in the piston have been enlarged to better fit the scavenging layout of the cylinder.

The steering angles have not changed compared to the first generation of the sport cylinder. They remain with approx. 115°/174° pleasantly low and permit also a shift lazy driving.
Thanks to the cleverly conceived overcurrent design, the cylinder can rev wide despite high torque in the low and medium range.

Cylinder head

The original Piaggio cylinder head can be used (follow the instructions!). With this the cylinder head has only a compression ratio of 1:10.5. Our recommendation is the cylinder head for this kit, which is also available from Malossi. This is much better designed and runs despite a compression of 1:12.5 (57mm stroke) thermally very resilient. With a tight squish dimension (0.8mm 57mm stroke) and a slightly negative squish angle in the outer rim zone, it is powerful while cooling the sensitive piston rim zone. Aluminium as cylinder material relieves the cylinder thermally and enables the compression ratio of 12,5:1. The resulting high medium pressure lets the engine hang on the throttle very well over the entire speed range and always conveys a power surplus.

An ideal companion is the BigBox Touring (alternatively Polini Box) or BigBox Sport.
The Touring needs a longer gear reduction due to the early and high torque, e.g. with a 24Z BGM clutch pinion. The BigBox Touring is perfect for larger engines with revised intake and adapted engine housing. Here it already plays out its potential very well and is a lot of fun for fast touring.

Also available as version for 60mm stroke.

NOTE

: The high bolt heads of the exhaust flange plate can get in the way of the exhaust manifold clamp. It is

best to replace them with flat head bolts from the start (part number: 3333891)
