Update for the cylinder head of the 172cc Malossi racing cylinder
Malossi has revised the cylinder head so that the combustion chamber is now arranged centrally.
This means that the flame paths are absolutely symmetrical. This has a positive effect on the overall performance and minimizes the tendency to knock, which is why Malossi has also slightly increased the compression ratio. However, at approx. 12:1, this is still in a very healthy range. In conjunction with the relatively tame control angles of the Malossi 172, this results in a high effective compression ratio. This means that the Malossi still guarantees a high medium pressure, making the engines born traffic light sprinters.

  • Bore: Ø65mm
  • Combustion chamber clearance: 0.2mm

The cylinder head also fits the older water-cooled 172cc cylinders which were still supplied with the previous design. The new head can be replaced 1:1. The new cylinder head can be recognized by its ribbing and the smooth combustion chamber finish (no more cast surface).

The new head also fits the original Piaggio 180cc cylinders. The compression ratio is also increased here (original: 9.8:1, Malossi ~12:1), resulting in an increase in torque and a noticeable increase in power. Subtle tuning without compromising durability. The head is supplied with a gasket set (2x O-rings).
