Description

Crankshaft BGM PRO Touring 60mm long stroke for Motovespa GT160 (C09/M09)

High quality forged crankshaft from BGM PRO for the big Motovespa engines with 160cc. Here in a special version with 3mm more stroke as a so called long stroke shaft with 60mm stroke.
For the assembly it is usually necessary to increase the crankcase in diameter slightly so that the connecting rod has sufficient distance to the crankcase.
The cylinder must be adapted to the longer stroke by appropriate compensating seals (spacers) and if necessary manual adjustment (milling / filing) of the outlet / inlet to the longer stroke.
This gives you the opportunity to fill the larger displacement perfectly by selecting the appropriate control angle for your own application. As a result you have a much more powerful engine than with the standard 57mm stroke. Please note that on Motovespa engines the intake is piston controlled. Raising the cylinder (by a stronger foot gasket) increases the overflow and exhaust angle, but at the same time decreases the advance and intake angle. Therefore, before working on the cylinder, please calculate the resulting timing angles by installing the crankshaft/spacer (there are online tools for calculating this on the Internet).

CLUTCH VARIANT
BGM PRO has directly taken the opportunity in the design of the crankshaft and manufactured two versions of the long unavailable GT160 crankshaft.

  • Motovespa clutch type (like original Motovespa for original clutches with cone)

  • Clutch type PX (fits with PX type clutches)

Who wants to build up an engine with the original clutch uses the crankshaft for the clutch type Motovespa.

Who wants to use other clutch types than the original GT160 takes the crankshaft for the PX-type clutch type. This allows you to use all clutches that can also be used in the PX engines without any further modifications.

MATERIAL
The Motovespa GT160 (actually 160 GT) crankshaft is made from high quality forged blanks. The forged material is much denser and more resistant to bending, making it perfect for use as a durable and strong crankshaft.

BEARING
The lower connecting rod bearing is lubricated via two large lubrication slots and a total of four additional pockets on the side. The SSC racing bearing and the thrust washers on the sides provide a solid bearing. The upper connecting rod bearing is lubricated via two lubrication holes. The INA piston pin bearing is included with the crankshaft.

CONCLUSION
The bottom line is that the bgm PRO crankshaft offers the highest quality in every component. Precision manufacturing, the materials used and, above all, the precise balancing leave nothing to be desired. This guarantees extremely smooth and vibration-free engine running.

STEERING ANGLE/TUNING
With original 57mm stroke, the original GT 160 cylinder has the following steering angles:

  • Piston recess 0.5mm

  • Intake angle: 131°

  • Exhaust angle: 144°

  • Transfer angle:119°

  • Advance intake: 12.5°

If the same cylinder with 60mm stroke is used, the following control angles result:

  • Piston protrusion: 1mm

  • intake angle: 132°

  • Exhaust angle: 148°

  • Transfer angle:124°

  • Advance intake: 12°
