Kingwelle high-end clutch for extremely powerful engines.
Ultra-stable clutch for use in the highest racing classes or in powerful everyday engines.
The Kingwelle clutch is originally designed for perfect traffic light starts in acceleration races, with engines well above 50HP.
However, this quickly resulted in an additional nice feature; Besides its proverbial indestructibility, the King clutch has a very high suitability for everyday use!
Despite its racing origins, the clutch is very easy to use. It has a very well defined pressure point. This is one of the reasons why the engines of the Kingwelle brothers are always at the front in every DBM race. The rider can stand at the start with the clutch engaged and very high revs without the risk of the clutch overheating or slipping. This means that the engine power can be finely dosed by engaging the clutch, thus achieving maximum possible acceleration, while still retaining full control of the vehicle.
DURABILITY
There is almost no wear on the main components of the clutch. The extremely high-quality basic materials offer outstanding fatigue strength and put the price of the clutch into perspective. This results on the one hand from the materials used and the necessary processing steps. For example, the clutch does not contain any stamped metal discs. These are turned/milled from the solid and then heat treated/tempered several times. This results in a coupling that is extremely strong and durable.
VERSIONS
The clutch is available with a steel or aluminium clutch basket.
The steel version is the first choice for touring oriented engines due to its heavier weight.
The lightweight aluminum version is ideal for very high RPM engines and/or those designed for maximum possible acceleration.
The durability is almost identical for both.

SUPPLY
Steel or aluminium outer basket
Clutch plates type Honda CR80 (the corners of the plates have been corrected with a 90° file)
9x clutch springs
Needle bearing pressure plate
Screws to compress the clutch
Brass bushing
Thrust washer
Holding tool
Special taper nut with M12x1.00mm fine thread, suitable for Kingwelle crankshafts (not shown).
(A taper nut with std. thread for conventional crankshafts of other manufacturers are optionally available).
NOT INCLUDED
Clutch pinion type PX 6/7 springs (plate is removed (riveted), only the pinion is needed).
Alternatively we offer reinforced primary sets from Benelli. These consist of clutch pinion and matching primary wheel with reinforced springs and screwed cover plates. Matching the high quality Kingwelle clutch, the transmission parts from Stefano Benelli are also manufactured for the highest demands and loads and are available in a very wide range of ratios.
The clutch is supplied with organic clutch plates of the Honda CR80/VFR400 type. These offer a very good pressure point and the best possible clutch engagement behaviour.
If carbon clutch facings are retrofitted, harder springs should be used to compensate for the lower friction value of the carbon facings.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The needle bearing pressure plate, like all needle bearing pressure plates, requires sufficient lubrication and must not be subjected to permanent pressure (e.g. by excessive pre-tensioning of the clutch cable). We therefore recommend increasing the oil level in the gearbox to approx. 350-450ml. In addition, it is important to ensure that the clutch cover lever is at an angle of just before 90° to the cable in order to obtain an optimum combination of lever and pressure plate (if necessary, work on the pressure plate).
Handlebar clutch lever must always have 3-6mm loose play before the clutch is actuated. 15-20mm of lever travel is normally sufficient to separate the clutch properly.
