The DIGITRONIC CDIs have each been developed for their specific area of application. The main focus has been placed on the ignition curve characteristic. Here the adjustment curve is optimized for use on the 172 cc Malossi cylinder with Malossi Race exhaust and carburetor kit.
The standard Cdi starts with 9° pre-ignition, then jumps to 22° v.o.t. and then relatively steeply reduces the ignition angle again. This makes it difficult to develop proper power in the upper rpm range because the ignition timing is reduced so much that misfiring can occur.
The Malossi CDI starts immediately with 25° pre-ignition and reduces this then in a far flatter adjustment angle.
